Linear Motor Magnet
Short Description:
High performance brushless linear motors are combined using linear motor magnets and coils. Common names for the linear motor include horseshoe, ironless, and U-channel. For the highly smooth motion required in high precision applications and extreme light weight for high speed programs, the Linear Motor system is fully gear free. Applications like lasers, semiconductors, metrology, and high-speed assembly frequently require linear motors

A linear motor is an electric motor that has had its stator and rotor "unrolled"; as a result, it now produces a linear force down its length rather than a torque (rotation). Linear motors are not always straight, though. In contrast to more traditional motors, which are set up as a continuous loop, a linear motor's active segment typically has ends.
